Cross-Country and Biathlon

Do you know the feeling when you are gliding along the cross-country slopes, breathing in the winter air deeply and you are suddenly overcome by a feeling of ease? It may doubtless lie in the wonderful winter sport of cross-country skiing itself, but it is highly probable that this feeling is all the more intense since your are in the right place at the right time – winter and cross-country skiing in East Tyrol are bonds which can be described as being perfect. The selection of slopes available has to be seen to be believed.
It is to be the Lienz Becken, which has a slope a full 30 kilometres in length to Pustertal and a legendary 35 kilometres to Drautal? The view which you get when the sun shimmers constantly on the Lienz Dolomites is something quite fairy-tale like … then there is Hochpustertal with a whopping 120 kilometres of tracked slopes. In addition Defereggental and the Hohe Tauern National Park are there for cross-country skiers who want to experience a winter dream on cross-country skis.
Cross-country and biathlon center
At Obertilliach biathlon centre one thing soon becomes clear – this is a place for professionals and for those who know what they’re doing. There are 4 to 5 kilometres of snow-covered slopes and you can even test and hone your cross-country skills throughout the year on the newly constructed 4.2 kilometre ski roller run. You can be almost certain that you’ll bump into a few stars from the “Nordic camp”. There is even the chance of setting out in the tracks of biathletes, who you know from film, radio and television during a “taster biathlon” – an experience that you’ll remember for a long time to come. Being a biathlete for a day – not a bad thing.
